Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have never ridden before, can I go on one of your trail rides?

A: Absolutely! We will spend time at the beginning to go over the basics. There are a variety of trails available along the way, you can truly choose your own adventure based on your comfort level!

Q: What if the weather forecast changes?

A: We will ride out in light rain and light wind. Misty River Trail Rides reserves the right to reschedule your ride in the event of bad weather (up to our discretion). You will be contacted ahead of time. We will not go out if there is lightning in the forecast, or if it is simply too hot for the horses. To avoid the heat, consider booking a morning or an evening ride! There is more wildlife to be seen during these times as well!

Q: My younger child loves horses, but has never ridden.

A: Consider booking them a lesson first to build that confidence up :)

Q: Why is there a weight limit of 250lbs?

A: This is the standard weight limit set in the trail riding industry to protect our horses. Their health and safety, along with yours, is our top priority.

Q: Is it possible I will fall off?

A: It is highly unlikely, you will be riding a seasoned horse on a path he or she knows well. There are always unpredictable elements when working with living creatures, in an ever changing outdoor environment. Listening closely to instruction, and not riding beyond your ability are very important to having a fun, and safe adventure.

Q: Can we RUN?

A: I get this question all the time. If you're a seasoned rider looking for a bit more of a challenging ride, please let me know ahead of time and book more than an hour ride. We will assess your ability and connection with your horse before giving you the green light to lightly trot and possibly lope your horse where the ground is suitable.

Q: Do you do Birthday Parties or Weddings?

A: I'm always open to listening to ideas for activities. Please contact me directly at

mistyrivertr@gmail.com

Q: Why don't your horses ride nose-to-tail?

A: The entire focus of my venture is to seek out and share my love of horsemanship with animal and nature lovers in Saskatchewan. I want my guests to truly feel the connection and the excitement that comes with learning to communicate in a gentle and kind manner with their partner for the day.

Q: What do you mean by "private" guided tours?

A: There will be no strangers in your group. When you book, you select the desired time and the number of people accompanying you. This is your group, and your time. This way, I can tailor each ride to the experience level and expectations of my guests.

Q: I am SO excited. Where do I book?
